Back in 93 when I picked up my fist SPG I worked at a home/car audio shop in Colombus. A coworker purchased a new VR6 Jetta & he just could not stop bragging about how fast his car was (upgraded from a rabbit/cabriolet:o). Anyways, so one hot (95+ degree) day we finally got a chance to test our cars acceleration in the parkinglot of the store. I thought for sure he would walk away from me in 1st but he actually only pulled me by about 2 feet. Once 3000 rpm's came by in 2nd I walked away from him in quite easy fassion :o) Then at about the time 2nd was maxed, we had to slam on our brakes or go into the grass. So I would usually leave a nice cloud of smoke (slick parking lot) & he kicked my ass in braking :o(
Both of our cars were bone stock & if I recall, the jetta's were suppose to be around 7 sec to 60 mph. 2 weeks later his car got totaled on the highway. He was stopped in a traffic jam & someone rearended him at 65 mph & put him in the hospital for a few weeks :o(
