hey everybody first off thanks for the support. I took some of your advice and it gave me the confidence i needed to accept the challenge, well enough mushy stuff on to the race....
We picked a course, loooong straight stretch of highway in connecticut. I convinced him to do a rolling start from 35 mph (tough to convince him it would be best for both of us). Finish line was a good 2-3 miles away. We had a friend pull off and was the official "flagger".
I took some advice from the board, lost back seat, spare tire, had just enough gas to get me there, race and home. I was ready and takin it pretty seriously.
We rolled at about 35 and started off. He got me off the start, the rolling start helped but I got some pretty significant wheel spin and he had me by an m3's length. Got to 80 in the blink of an eye and my $1,000's in mods started to pay off. Started to really get some boost and took off. We crawled right next to each other 'till about 110 and i started to pull away from him. The finish line was approaching and i gunned it, so did he. He pulled right next to me and flipped me off. That was it, a little harder on the gas...
BEAT HIM!!!! by 1/4 of a cars length it was close but it counts, crossed the finish line with my 130 mph gauges pinned, way scary. Definately a big victory, for me and saabs. Just raisin saab's credibility up one notch or two.
Thanks for the help.
