I've been reading this thread for the past day wondering when someone would acknowledge the elephant in the parlor. What you're forgetting is that SQR dominated the entire weekend. Period. End of story.
Ed Smith's amazing Viggen screamed on the dyno, spinning the thing and smoking the tires. SQR tuned.
Rich Levy laid down great numbers with a GT28. SQR tuned.
Matt's 9000 Aero was amazing...and SQR tuned.
My own car -- SQR tuned -- had been on base boost for weeks and was still adapting on the dyno during my runs, yet had a perfect A/F ratio.
And so on. I know I'm forgetting some folks, as eight or nine of the top 10 slots were probably SQR-tuned cars.
There's been a lot of speculation what could have happened, say if several things were different, or if so-and-so had shown up. Please remember that there were three other SQR tuned cars present that didn't even dyno! All were equipped with GT30 turbos in various trims. Terry's 9000 Aero will be just nuts. Jay was hitting 30 PSI easily, but had a bad injector. And Dave Ship's insane 9-5 Aero will likely easily surpass anything I put down. Ever.
I'm not saying this to gloat in any way, as I'm incredibly thankful to Ed Smith for his leadership and poise, both for organizing the dyno event and for declining the top HP award. It was the second time I met him, and this recent meeting reinforced my impression of the first: He's a class act, and a good person in the most profound sense.
Nothig happens in a vacuum, so I'm very thankful to Paul and Boe Kalinoski of Automotion, who are so skilled they could probably make a wheelchair win at Indy.
Biggest thanks should go to Frank Stromqvist of SQR, who basically assembled an armada that kicked royal butt. He doesn't come on here and tout himself, nor does he even advertise. He just tunes Saabs better than most people in the world, which is why people will drive across the country to have their cars custom tuned by him.
He wouldn't say it himself, so I'll say it for him:
SQR FTW.
