THanks for your soooper fast reply Simon S!
My car is stock (as of right now) with the following exceptions:
3" exhaust from the header-back with a perfomance cat.
APC with possible pot-turns (can't remember)
3bar FPR
MSD-6 BTM (obviously)
Vacuum advance has been modified to ONLY advance, and not retard (the original stop was drilled out and a larger stop bolted in to close the gap and stop the retard function totally. In other words the actuator arm can
go in, but not out (past it's rest-state spot)
and NO, the ignition timing is set to 8 degrees when the car is idling. I found, through messing with the timing, that my car perfoms better when the basic/base ignition timing is below 16 degrees. Perhaps that's just because of the other tweaks: MSD retard curve and Bleeder device. Does this make sense. I had it at 11 degrees, and the boost was not as strong, and I tried at 16 degrees (stock) and it was kinda weak there.
The bucking/misfire is a misnomer, sorry. I meant to say bucking only because when I get to the yellow/red line of the boost guage it makes the car buck and there is loss of power as this area is approached but not a misfire, and this only happens in lower gears accelerating at WOT or 3/4 accel. In higher gears it may buck at bit, but IF I am at 4000 rpm or higher it will sometimes stop bucking and really grab some strong boost that is right at the line again.
so, this restrictor you mentioned, is it to be connected after the bleeder, but before the BTM? -AND what is the relieving pressure regulator that you speak of. Can it me made/bought from some where?
Thanks SOOOO much, Simon Any further thoughts are greatly appreciated
-Rob
