What brand of rising rate fuel pressure regulator do you have. A proper rising rate will cut the fuel pressure back at idle when vacuum is present. I've used a bunch of my version of a rising rate FPR with red Bosch injectors and it works great. If you do end up needing an LH 2.2 fuel chip JAK at JSP can make you one but it will require a 3 bar FPR not a RRFPR. If the FPR you have works with your red injectors (no rich problems at idle) then don't worry about another fuel chip. The "mechanical switch" you're asking about is located under your dash on the drivers side but up fairly high. It's not an on and off switch but it is adjustable. When you turn the center screw clockwise it raises the over pressure limit but it can just defeated by bypassing it with the vacuum lines or the wires themselves. You can also defeat it by finding the wires that go to and from it ( I believe they're orange and white or brown and white) from your ECU and unplugging the ones that go to the over pressure switch and then plugging the one that went to the ECU directly to the other one you unplugged which goes to the fuel pump relay above your ECU which is what I do.
