Kooch,
1. What is to much boost?
2. What is your base boost setting?
3. What octane level of gas?
The bottom line is that until you eliminate detonation, everything you do will be a unhappy compromise. You are right about not be able to discover the potential of your new camshafts and unless you do something about the detonation, you will never completely discover what your engine can do.
To really get alot of power of these engines, we have to run high boost and with the gasoline available here on the west coast and most of the US, running over 14-15 psi on a hot summmer day is difficult at best with any kind of decent ignition timing.
As many of you already know, I am a proponent of water injection. The critics will say what they will, but until you try it and see what it can do for you, your frustration level will always be high.
Email me and then we can talk about your APC adjustments.
Steve Yamamoto
