When you start to add in all the little bits and pieces, plus labor if you're paying for that, you will see that serious $$$$ goes into creating these machines... I read SCC too... and are these cars really daily drivers like your SPG? I doubt it! Most of these things are driven only on nice weekends! One of the most tunable cars out there is the VW/Audi 1.8T and to get that anywhere close to 300 bhp at the crank (not wheels) will be in the neighborhood of $6,000 in parts alone... I agree with Scott, most of the interesting cars in SCC have $15k in mods... if I wanted big power from a SAAB I'd go with a 9000, preferably Aero, or at least NG 900, if you could live with those (!) there is a lot more potential for tuning and extracting power from them. Check out Maptun http://www.maptun.com, Nordic http://www.saabtuning.com - Wigwam Saab in RI installs their products, you can get close to 300 bhp from these and others for under $3,000. And you will have quality, reliability, and Swedish style you can use every day!!!
