U.S Saabs Vs. Euro Saabs?!?!?

I was just reading through Jeff Cunnighams 7th speed ticket when I noticed:- "At 125 MPH, she just couldn't go anymore"<-altho I do appreciate that Jeff metioned a lack of fuel due to new 2.1 head.
I also noticed a previous post from someone I can't remember off hand about a month or so ago, talking about a 120mph top speed in a T16.
My best top speed is 145mph (and I backed off then due to air getting under the car)which is only tweaked slghtly. I have also personally been in a modified T16 that has hit 155mph. Both Euro Saab 900's.
So are there any major differences between the types here and the ones that reside in the U.S? i.e. a lower gearing to compensate for the lower speed limit?
*Scratches head in confusion*
