I am basing these calculations on the stock tire on Chris's car (195/60-15), not on the SE 16" wheels. There is, in fact, a slight difference between the stock 15" circumfrence and the stock 16" circumfrence, about 5%.
Anyway, the stock 15" tire has a circ of 76.1". A 215/45-17 tire has a circ of 77.3", a difference resulting in 1.7% slow speedo reading. A 215/40-17 will have a circ of 74.7", resulting in a 1.8% fast speedo reading. Since Saab themselves put 215/45 on the Viggen at the factory, I was inclined to side with them.
Besides, all of this is neither here nor there, as I don't think that 215/45 tires are approprate for 8" wide wheels.
