Stock Aero has 225 HP at the Crankshaft, an Auto-Aero

has 200 Hp at the crank. A dyno measures torque at the drive wheels and
calculates Hp based on torque and motor rpm. Between the crank and the
wheels there are power losses due to the transmission.
Estimates of drive train losses for a standard transmission front wheel
drive system are 15 percent. So, a stock 225 Hp Aero should make around
190-195 Hp at the wheels.
Estimates for an auto transmission are 20 percent. So a stock Auto Aero
should make around 160-170 Hp at the wheels.
My Auto Aero dynoed at 217 Hp. Thus the increase due to my mods can be
estimated to be 47 to 57 Hp. Torque was up from a stock value of 217 ft-lbs
to 258 ft-lbs.
The power gain is very significant, it transforms the car.
Abbott software, combined with the exhaust and intake mods, and
a higher pressure wastegate actuator (Abbott supplied with the s/w)
makes a lot more power. The downside is that the new actuator raises
base boost and limits the Trionic ECU ability to protect from knocking
under certain rare conditions such as a bad batch of fuel, or sustained
low boost operation like climbing a mountain when the ambient temperature
is high.
As I have said before, if I were to do the ECU mod again, I would seriously
consider one of the Swedish tuner's s/w that produce similar Hp without
changing base boost. Their products also are more economical than Abbott's.
Sorry for the length of this post, hope I have explained you question.
