hey Rookie,

I consider myself a big fan of cars, and I try to respect people who
share that passion. However, the fact is that 90% of the so called
"ricers" havn't done the serious (and expensive) modifications that
your friend has done to his Civic. Many are all show, and NO go.
I can't count how many riced out cars I've seen that have automatic
transmissions, and nothing but an air filter kit, huge fartcan, and
a goofy looking triple decker wing. These people will proceed to
act 'gangta'.. and cut you off (be it on the highway or on the road)
to show how "fast" they are. Sorry, but these people don't deserve
respect. They are no better than the guys in 5.0 Mustangs that look
down on anything 'forriinn'.

Anyway, to the Viggen. That car is very nice.. I really want one..
but it is by no means the fastest thing on the road with just 230HP..
A more fair comparision would be to take a base 9-3 (around $22k
now) versus a Honda Civic HX (around 18k).. now you are on the same
level with regard to money. Now, which car is a better machine to
modify? :] I'll take the 9-3 which has that nice 2.0L turbo just
waiting to push out big HP.. not to retrofit a normally aspirated
engine with a low pressure turbo/super-charger...

Once again, ricers attitudes are summed up by:
"he doesn't understand why you would buy a saab for performance..the viggen just makes him laugh..."just another rich mans mid-life crisis wanabe sports car""

No respect given.. none given in return in my opinion. That type
of statement is really irritating... It just sounds like someone
with their own inferioty complex because they drive a Civic.. bah.
Yes, people just need to "get along"..

oh well. You got your reply! :} take care,

Ryan
