I too used to laugh at the Jap super cars. Why I used to think...you think you have a real muscle car? Why not a mustang/z-28/T-A??? I have friends that are in to muscle cars and big blocks....hell I have a tow truck, a 1986 ford 4 door dually with a 460 putting out 500 ft-lbs at the rear wheels and I am building a 514 for it to get more power so I LIKE big v-8's....however, I am begining to feel that these REAL riceburners (the cars with go not show) are pretty impressive. The entire m uscle car movment started buy guys taking passenger cars in the 50's and 60's and turning them into fast cars..when mustangs came out they were fastish, sporty family cars. People did a lot of work making them go fast. Now a mustang is a fast car from the factory...hell a 01 z-28 or SS is a DAMN fast car. But these rice burners are taking 100 hp economy cars like Civics and turning them into 12, 11, 10 or even 9 second cars.....THAT IS DAMN IMPRESSIVE. I have glanced at some of the magazines and some of these cars are naturally aspirated without NOS....THAT IS VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE. I might not like the culture but I respect there knowledge and dedication to making something origional, personal, and something that performs. I also think it is a good expenditure of money and time for a kid....UNLESS THEY GET INTO STREET RACING....THAT BELONGS ON THE TRACK NOT THE STREET..but if my kid wants to work and spend all his money and time fixing up a car I would love it. It is much better than some of the other alternatives kids have today.
