To test, ok to just monitor false boost pressure at hand pump. when relief opens, you will know it.
I don't think it's necessary to delay retard .... jouko's plots show you still have much more than oem advance at early stages of boost, without a delay. But, my newest blue BTM (for use with 6A ign box)has 0-5 psi adjustable delay. I set it to 0 or 1. I don't know if the universal stand alone BTM has this feature, but I consider it non-essential.
Of course, your SDS has fully programable rpm based timing, with vac and boost corrections.
note to kooch ... stop wining! if you going for big power, big changes are needed to do it right.
