What's the deal with SPGs?

I'm a recent convert to Saabs and and this forum. As I browse through the postings in this section I notice a reverential tone when people discuss the SPGs. Every SPG owner swears they will never part with theirs and non-owners wish they had one. How come? Is this genuinely a superior auto?
I have a '95 900SE(v6) with 75,000 on it. Would any of you trade that for a '90 SPG in excellent condition plus $4,000 in cash?
I'd like some objective opinions here. Are SPG proponents valid in their enthusiasm or are they like my inlaws who don't seem to realize the '60s are over and the rest of us have moved on.
Thanks for the feedback.
