ALways remember this: LIQUID GASOLINE DOES NOT BURN!!! Only the gasoline vapors burn. Gas has a high boiling point (around 400 F.) and spraying it on the intake valves help to heat it up (along with the heated intake manifold). Even most sophisticated electronic fuel injection systems don't "time" the opening of the injectors with the opening of the intake valve but use either a slow/fast pulsing system.
