Maybe we're on different wavelengths here. I think you're referring to converting a N/A to LPT. Anyway, my experience comes from taking a N/A 16valve engine and converting it to a FPT. I've done all my homework before I started (researched part numbers, asked a million questions to very experienced SAAB technicians, etc.). Not only that, Ive converted quite a few SAABs (N/A -> FPT), it's not that difficult. Some guys I know did their own. A few guys left the original cams on. These guys had engine problems down the road (~20,000 miles) where as the ones who used turbo cams are still SAABbing. If you don't understand things like static compression ratio and dynamic compression ratios then I sugest you do some reading up. Anyway, I'm just trying to do my part and keep people from ruining their engines. It won't hurt to use the turbo camshaft anyway. The LPT engine has the same cams as the FPT. But one thing I do agree on is the increase in gas mileage and throttle response etc.
