Your ECU will not care about a new turbo.
Intake and exhaust restrictions also create more heat. But heat robs power. The boost droop at high RPMs is a separate issue. Having full boost at top RPM's and hot air would be another issue.
A larger or modified turbo's lag would be easily overcome with a MBC.
Part of your boost pressure is lost as a pressure drop accoss the IC. The larger IC would give you more pressure and lower temperatures at the same time. A double benefit.
The stock throttle body transistion casting and the turbo compressor discharge silencer also rob real pressure at high CFM's. Simple DIY's to fix. Same story for the exhaust, and air box.
What other mods do you have? A Viggen IC would help. A MBC or modified ECU would make sense prior to turbo work.
Yes the turbo is undersized. If it was not, the lag in the stock configuration would be severe. The lag that you feel in a stock configuration is a result of the control system, not the turbo. If an MBC is fitted, spool up is very fast. So you cannot take the lag of a stock system as a reference for a larger turbo with a fast controller.
