at the cost of a junkyard shifter housing, you can do one on your own and keep it stock height. if you pull out the shifter (with the ball and seat) you will see where the seat sits. on our junker, you simply cut this part of the aluminum off the housing and trim it down so it sits flat on top of the one in your car. then find some longer screws (the three mounting screws for the shifter) to run down into your existing housing. next, you need to separate the ball and seat on your shifter and move the seat up the same thickness as the new housing piece you cut. you will have to drill and pin both sides of it. then, drop it into place and you should be good. the result will be a stock height shifter with shorter throws at about $15 and a few hours time. good luck.
