I'm no Yank, I'm from Devon, UK.
I have considered the Ford route, but I have an allergy to Fords, having spent time fixing other people's Fords at uni. Awful things, badly put together.
I'm thinking probably a 928, which fits the bill, and can be had for around £5k.
