...HUGE bill (22 hrs of labour) but well worth it. I run the larger 9000 front calipers, plus Brembo discs/ Ferodo DS 3000 pads from Trent Saab. IMHO this will provide all the stopping power you'll ever need. Using 9000 calipers involves only trimming the back plates on the 88-> 900 hubs, using the small pieces of hard brake line from the 88-> 900 calipers (forgot those, so had to get them in a hurry) for which small custom brackets should be made, 'cause the ones that hold the brake lines on the 900 don't fit the 9000 caliper.
GM is right: the most part of the work lays in the fitting of the rear handbrake cables and the handbrake lever. There's a bit of custom work to be done to make everything bolt up to the old car's floorpan.
An added bonus of the conversion was finally being able to use the 6.5 x 16" Aero's... :-)
Good Luck,
Eric
