today, put in a 9000 ic in a 900 turbo. as i know it, there are at least two types of 9000 ic's. one looks like a big 'v' with the hose fittings facing inwards. the other is slightly more narrow, does not have the pronounced 'v' shape, and its hose fittings face vertically (i used this one). we popped off the bumper and grill and we were in. all it took were to remove the two tow tabs (cut flush) and it fit right in. did not even require removal of the a/c :). hose fittings facing down. remounted the bumper ( required removal of some of the bottom bumper grill (near the fog lights) and it went it. it looks stock. only noticable difference is a black rubber hose elbow outboard of each foglight (actually looks kind of neat). piping was fairly straight forward with stock pipes from 900 turbo and some others. we took some pictures, so maybe we'll post sometime. one thing that helped quite a bit was having the battery in the trunk. only issue we see now is the proximity of the ic piping to the 3" downpipe; but it's nothing a little heat wrap or sheilding won't fix...

it's too early to post results, only drove about 20 minutes home. but it did hold boost higher and stronger than before, enough to notice a significant difference. increase in lag was minimal. now, i have to get the msd btm dialed in correct with less (yeah baby) retard, and more power...

much thanks to chrisx for his help today.
