Hi,
I am in the same boat as you. Ever since the first major rebuild I have intermittent max boost, and Abbott Racing advised me to ditch the APC and install one of their manual boost valves set at 1.2 bar (APC allowed me to get ~1.5 from this particular configuration - that is, when it worked...)
Anyways, on classic 900T's the APC system is completely self contained. No connection whatsoever to the LH fuel system or ignition (timing is controlled by a simple vacuum advance/boost retard mechanism on the ign. distributor. Deleting APC function means you have no means of knock protection anymore - but nothing else.
