No welding involved... The rear bar's forward position is shared with the pivot for the trailing arm, the rear position is shared with the axle. You need to be sure to grab the bolts from the swaybar-ed car, as they are longer than the bolts for cars without. Also be sure to grab the four u-shaped rubber bits that isolate the swaybar from the trailing link to avoid rubbing.
In terms of fit, the rears will always fit - all 900s are the same. On the front, the issue is the endlink. The one I pulled from the '90 900T simply would not mate on the a-arms on my 5-door. I didn't try especially hard since that car already had Addco f&r bars, but if I had to guess I would bet the '81+ cars are all the same, and it's only '79 & '80 cars that are weird (if they are in fact weird and it isn't my imagination!).
