I completely understand your concern with drivers thinking it's a race but the school is NOT set up that way. I am on helping (a little bit) with the SOC & I am the one who set up the instructors for the drivers school as well as I came up with Putnam for the events. I am actually friends with Dave Schardt (raced in Speedvision cup, owns the wheel source, forgeline) & he has put on 2 drivers schools every year atPutnam for several years now.

The schools are set up similar to the Skip Barber school in that there is NO passing EXCEPT on designated straights as well as when the driver of the slower car motions you to go by. It is NOT a race!!!!!! Cars will be grouped according to drivers past experience as well as the cars abilities.

Instructor wise, these guys are first class! Some have 750 HP 911's which some of us will be luck enough to take some laps in as well as numerous other VERY nice cars which they do track time all over. The instructors will be in the car with you untill they feel you can do consistant lap times. It's not how much you are pushing your car but simply consistant lap times.

The track layout is also VERY friendly to 1st time drivers as well as the experienced! The last turn on the track is pretty much the only turn where if you run off, you will hit a wall. Every other turn has a nice grass farm field which allows plenty of runn-off.

Accident wise, they have experienced 2 accidents in the 6-8+ years of the events at putnam. The first accident happned on their first event while the 2nd accident was on their last session. I was there & saw the entire thing happen, it invovled the most experienced drivers.

Unfortunantly racing of ANY kind does have risks involved. BUT I completely trust how this school will be handled & look forward to taking my car out on the track. Just this time I won't have the only saab in the vacility & I also won't have to worry about the new 911T's, Viper GTS's & a few other kick ass cars i my class :o)

I beleive 60 slots is all we will have for the event & it WILL fill up FAST!!!
