As you have noticed, the Lucas is a bit more advanced in terms of adaptivity than the Bosch LH. It does "learn" about the values it receives from the AMM, the throttle position potentiometer and the lambda sensor. The values it has "learned" are stored in the memory inside the ECU. This means that there's no adjustment for idle speed, mixture and such on the system. The "learning" will take place only when the engine is idling but the compensated values will be used through the whole power band. The way to reset the unit is to unplug the battery for 10 minutes or so. There's even a power-on-power-off sequence with the ignition switch that can be used to do the same but I can't get my hands on it right now.
What this means is that the Lucas unit will benefit from a reset and a brief learning session after something odd's been done to the engine. In my car, for example, going to an open cone air filter caused the engine to stall when returning back to idle from higher rpm's. This was later completely fixed as I replaced the turbo bypass valve, but before that the Lucas did a good job in compensating the idle so that the engine wouldn't stall.
The Saab factory repair manual isn't very detailed in what comes to how the Lucas learns what it does.
