I'm not an engineer by any stretch of the imagination, I must admit.
Let's say GM was running 20psi on the stock T3. When you get towards redline, maybe a stock T3 at 20psi doesn't deliver more significant power compared to 15psi. Now the example of a T3/T4 delivering the goods at 10-12psi compared to a T3 at 20psi sounds plausible.
So, lets say 12psi on the T3/T4 puts you where you left off with the stock T3. Now, turn the boost up to 15psi. That's like having 3 efficient psi more boost than before. Now you're probably 20hp ahead of where you were. Next, raise the boost to 20psi. Make sure you have fuel to match and HANG ON!
