My theory is if you insulate the header ( manifold) only this will create the biggest pressure difference across the turbo which is good - hotter expanded and therefore high pressure in the insulated manifold and cooler condensed and therefore low pressure in the uninsulated downpipe. You can run in to all sorts of problems if you keep too much heat in the header via external wraps - it will transfer more heat to the head which will increase the combustion temperatures and also you may over stress the casting and cause premature faliure. An internal coating sounds ideal as long as it's garaunteed to not flake off and hit the turbo!
