OK, great. Use synthetic oil, it does have advantages. Standard warnings about Castrol FakeTec(tm) engine oil apply :)

The folks with the modified ECUs do have valid points, but blow unneccessary amounts of smoke about safety. You should have seen the flac that I recieved when I posted a few years ago that I had installed a MBC. Cries of creating a riced up time bomb have not withstood the ravages of time! (Too bad that incarnation of the BB was not archived and integrated on the new version.)

With the MBC you will be dealing with the raw power and responsivenss of the turbo and you will have to learn how to manage this with your throttle techique. Burning tires all of the time is not the way to go.

Some do not like this and want the ECU to manage this so that 1st gear is more controlled. Some then feel very confident that they really like the feel of what the engine can do and then later go for the expense of the ECU. So a $35 expense for a MBC as a stepping stone is good value. Also I think that one does learn a lot with a MBC by experiencing what the turbo wants to do by it self when it is not held back by the control system. $35 is trival as far as any mods go on a NG900 1994-1999.

Then there are some who get the modified ECUs and then add MBCs to that and hack the MAP sensors. That is pushing things! Remember the smoke about APC safety?
