the problem with triggering with boost is you need it running at a stoplight, etc., when the IC gets heat soaked. You would want to cool the IC before you take off from a stop. If you started the fan with boost, by the time it cooled the IC you would be off the throttle. I'm trying to mount a 9000IC on my 87 spg. Hopefully, the radiator fans will keep it cooled off at lights. Not to mention I can cut a hole in the forward side of the stock airbox and fabricate a cold air box. THis should be better than the cone type for a couple of reason. The first reason is I'll get cold air from the front of the car, and not hot engine air. The second is the filter surface area of my stock sized K&N is at least twice the area of a cone filter.
