And was replaced by a low mileage engine a couple months later. To be fair, the original engine did have 256k hard miles on it (no all freeway for this one!), and never had synthetic oil in it. This problem surfaced about four months after I began to crank the boost up, though it wasn't until after the new engine went in, that I got over 16 psi. The shop reckoned that the rod knock and extra boost were only slightly related, saying the boost simply accelerated the inevitable, as they give a totally stock engine from my car about 300k on average. So far so good with the tranny, though it is only about two years and 40k miles old. :)
