inner ring backed off the cam shaft and snapped the timing chain. chain hit upper chain guide (w/pin and tensioner) and sheared pin from the block. hairline fracture above guide pin. block is toast as well as all but two of the valves. valves guides came into cylinder and embeded in pistons and head. big mess. 4 months of building all gone. and not because of too much power, just because of loosening set screws. note: do not use blue loctite on cam gear screws, use red with locking washers. set it to where you want it and tach weld into place.
my engine is already torn down, spent all day tuesday doing it, and a new block is in the machine shop. trying to think positively about this, i am getting the block o-ringed, new pistons, new headgasket, exhaust manifold milled for copper gasket, etc. should be better than before. and machine shop should be done with it next week. so next weekend will be a long one. only big problem now is another 3000 miles before i can get on it again. i hate break in periods.... it's only money, and a broken heart....
