It's not really very feasible to vent engine bay air out over the windshield. The cowl area is actually quite high pressure. Enough so that some cars use it as an air intake, and most cars have there HVAC intake there.
Personally, I don't see a problem with 150mph in a Saab. Some folks have posted pics of 9ks at redline in 5th without reporting any problems. After all, you'll be limited by the rev limiter in 5th anyway, which isn't too crazy, especially with the shortish gearing of the earlier 9ks.
