What the original thread was about was whether I would need to replace the stock c900 IC for reasons _other than_ intercooling efficiency, i.e. flow restriction and the resulting pressure drop giving the turbo too much work for a certain hp goal. As it stands, it seems that the most widely suggested alternative -the 9000 IC- is significantly _worse_ in that respect, and variations on the 9-3 crossflow Viggen theme are within 10% in terms of flow, a negligible difference IMO. As cars equipped with either of these seem to get to 300 hp and beyond without overly stressing relatively modest turbo's (TD04-15HL mainly) I believe at least the flow characteristics of the later c900 IC will allow me to do so, too.
With a fancooler kit as well as water injection, I have all the charge air cooling I want, and if I want more, I can always add IC water spray...
