hellbent on stuffing the 9000 ic. basically finding information that supports your claim. instead of offering a full unbiased opinion.
i do not have scientific data to support my changes. but, when i added the 9000 fmic in place of the stock 900 ic i saw drastic changes. with the stock ecu i was running 18 psi. with the stock 900 ic i needed to retard timing to 9.5 dbtdc to prevent predet under full boost. with the addition of the 9000 fmic, i was able to advance the timing to 11-11.5 dbtdc under full boost, a significant change in power.
i think the best way to test these is to take one car and change these ic's out to test them. then tune the car to each ic for the best results. however, this is a logistical nightmare due to the time involved and the modifications required to hook up each and make the runs.
also of note, the two 9000 fmic's have quite different end tanks. the earlier models have end tanks which angle off and then make a 90 degree bend (can't be too good for flow). the later ones had angled endtanks where the rubber boots made the more gradual transition towards the engine.
that all said, i should be able to provide more information on the possible hp limit of the 9000 fmic later this summer. almost done breaking in the new engine...
