I've read there is a needed ratio, I believe it was an auotspeed article that said, "However, testing on aircraft engines indicates that the mass of water required to suppress detonation is 20-30 per cent of the weight of the total liquid charge (that is, the water plus the petrol) being consumed." Also they referred to properly increasing water w/ increasing airflow. I've read that having a single h2o inj flowrate you have to set the system up to come on at a mid psi so the water flow doesn't cause hesitation at lower boost levels. Now with that in mind and the fact that if you don't flow enough water it won't do diddly squat, Is there a ratio between hesitation and no cooling/preventing detonation effects?
My thoughts are, if you use a high speed valve that turns water on at a lower psi that will allow you to flow less water at lower psi and more at higher psi w/o hesitation, you will be cooling air from the beginning and improving detonation prevention at higher psi. To think about a reg pump and nozzle setup, your nozzle pressure drops w/ boost press so more h20 is flowing in the beginning than in the end and ontop of that you're dumping it in at mid boost, doesn't sound right, eh? Ofcourse these are just my thoughts and opinions. Brad probably has had some experience w/ the different setups. Wonder what he prefers?
