Mounting a FMIC on a C900 can be done, but you're better off going with a totally custom job and/or water injection. I've seen 944 turbo ICs & a custom built Sparco (and a custom built radiator to go with both) on C900s with good results. The stock IC is not the best, but it is not the worst, either. I think the PITA factor of installing a FMIC outweighs the benefits.

Now the rant:

Of course, this all depends on what you're going for power-wise. If you have a stock turbo, the most you can safely push out of it before it self-destructs is about 18 psi (and lower for Mitsubishi TE05 owners). Sure you can run them at 20+ psi, but their durability at those levels is next to nothing. The stock IC can handle this load just fine.

Pushing a turbo out of its efficiency range causes it to produce super hot and ineffective boost, something no IC can fix. This leads to detonation, which leads to blown headgaskets and all around decreased performance.

Say you get a custom built turbo, like I did. Detonation is taken care of for the most part, since the new turbo is still efficient at those 20+ psi levels. Now might be the time for a custom FMIC. BUT.... a much easier (and likely less expensive) solution is water injection. This cools the charge air tremendously, which translates into a gain in power & increased fuel mileage. The water is directed into the outlet side of the stock C900 IC, and is far easier to install than a FMIC. You can even keep your AC if you want to.

Once you get past all of this... then you get to deal with your clutch slipping since it can't handle the power (even a relatively new one)! If you can solve that, then your wheels spinning out of control is next up on the problem depth chart. I have Intrax springs, Bilstein shocks, wide rims and sticky tires, but my tires still cut loose pretty easily in 1st - 3rd gears. After that, you get to deal with the tranny!

Bottom line: Go with water injection instead of the FMIC. Fewer headaches on the install & a greater benefit once it's in use.
