Contrary to what SD recommends, Dr. Boost, and others who have
done modifications in Sweden, have recommended using the
uprated Sachs PP w/stock clutch. When my slightly modified
9000 was slipping in 5th, I removed the transaxle and inspected
both the clutch and pp. They both had less than 30k miles on them.
The clutch showed hardly, if any, wear. My theory, and it seems
to be corroborated by others, is that the pressure plate is the weak
link. So, the pressure plate was 'uprated' - I used a new, stock,
clutch. I have less than a thousand miles on this set-up, but more
engine mod's have increased my torque, substantially. Basically,
I think SD are giving you input to sell their products. I would think
you would be better served if you balance what they say, with what
people here and in Sweden have done with modified 9000's. It'd
be a shame if you spent lots of money on a new clutch and kept the
stock pressure plate, only to have them fail at a later date because
the pressure plate was the weak-link.
