Water injection does lower intake temps, and allows higher boost because of cooler air. Most race setups do not use this because of possible failure and duration of the water capacity. I, personally would upgrade to a 9000 intercooler or use something like the Abbott or SQR upgraded intercooler.
But for a street car using high boost on a limited basis, using water injection is probably fine. I would just prefer not having something else to keep maintained. Most of the tuners for racing applications do not use water injection for the ubove reasons.
I run 25 psi in my Aero, and the stock intercooler seems to be working OK. T5 helps keep things in check.
