I just installed an HKS boost guage and a turboXS high performance boost controller on my 2002 9-3 SE. The APC is still hooked up. I took the line that goes from the electronic boost controller to the wastegate off the wastegate nipple and hooked it to the new MBC. Then, the output of the new NBC goes to the WG nipple.

I realize that essentially I have 2 boost controllers in a row, but the way I saw it, when the stock boost controller sends pressurized air to the new manual unit, the manual unit will not open until my preset boost setting.

The results are a quicker spool up, the initial rise to about .7 bar, a fall back down to .5 bar (note stock went and stayed at .5 with .7 attainable in higher gears fully floored) and then when I get into higher gears, I am able to get to .8. The car screams, but staying at .8 too long (more than 5 seconds) causes the APC to kick in and it will not go above .2 bar the rest of the ride until I turn the car off and then back on again.

Steve: How did you eliminate interruption from the APC? I was thinking it might work if I eliminate the signal to the APC from the pressure transducer, but I do not want to screw anything up. Also, if I have the wastegate going through a manual boost controller, and the fact that it can hold .8 bar means the wastegate spring can handle that, then how is the boost still higher in higher gears?

In other words, if the manual controller is in place, what is adjusted other than the wastegate to control boost (and I do not mean fuel cut)? I know on other cars, with the manual boost controller set, you hit the same boost in any gear.

Thanks Steve and others...
