Dean,
The Forge 007P also has a metal-to-metal seat, but the O-rings seal the valve so that the vacuum won't just suck air around the outside of the piston. How does the TurboXS make an air-tight seal for the vacuum to actuate the piston?
An undamaged diaphragm valve will not toot/hoot regardless of the combination of software/hardware. The only reason any noise would be audible is due to the diaphragm being perforated. When boost/vacuum air passes thru the rip/hole in the diaphragm (rather than being sealed off by an undamaged diaphragm), it hoots. Piston valves, obviously, eliminate the possibilty of developing any rips or holes, but you're actuating more mass & they require some maintenance.
Thanks for the manifold pressure explanation. Does the same thing happen when you momentarily lift your foot off the throttle to shift (partially open TP)? Or are other factors affecting vacuum during that brief period of time?
