a little off topic but then again i use welders to help my performance saab stay together and i want a high performance welder so it is a toss up. to the point...
I want to buy a new mig welder but have no experience in the 175+ machines. are the lincoln 175+, hobart handler 175, miller 175 just clones of their underperforming baby brothers in the 125-135 range? do i REALLY have to go the 200+ for a professional machine to get good results in 1/4 inch gas shielded weld? how about stitch weld capabilities? any first hand experiences? is it worth the extra $?. are there any differences in the type of circuitry between welders. ala lincoln variable inductance "diamond core"?. should it be spoolgun ready if i want to use aluminum? 2 or 4 roller wire drive?? push-pull systems??? inverter .vs. transformer??? esab multi master for a one box mig, stick, tig? , wire feed replaced stick years ago for me. will i ever use tig? haven't yet but i have not done body work either and i would like enough control to go from sheet metal to 1/4"+.

never seen so many options presented to a man who can only read the price tag and wonder if i can get what i want at a reasonable price or if i should just bite the bullet and get more than i will ever need just to make sure i get at least what i want. i could use some help here i think :)

i want a machine that works with me, not one that makes me work with it, tired of that approach.

thnx
