I weld a fair amount I have a service truck & cary a 250 amp DC stich welder generator
mose service trucks & production welding shops use wire feeders walk into any welding outfit & you will see its fast & easy & clean
what I do is use stick for anything thicker than exhaust type stuff & use gas for that(oxy ascetalene)but Im currently unable to weld aluminum what most do with high powered welders like I have is to buy a wire feder that uses the welder as the power suply so you dont have to change electrodes as you burn em up
also this would allow one to run alum with gas
my welder is kind of ancient & is a constant current machine not constant voltage (what most wire feeders & tig machines are) so I have to buy a $1200 wire feeder that can change wire speed as load changes as aposed to wire speed being constant & current changine to make up the diference
so with a good power suply you basicaly can run anything off of it
