I have driven all generations and models(starting with the C900) of SAAB's cars and feel that the 9-5 and current 9-3 are their best models yet. The Viggen is fun & raw but comes with a less than perfect chassis and suspension set up. It is also the type of car that will become squeaky and rattly over time. Right now, I already have a car like that in my c900. My c900 is fast, powerful, and handles extremely well, so when I need the fun factor, I drive that car.
I did a realistic evaluation of what my needs were in another vehicle and determined that I needed four doors along with comfort, refinement, and a dose of the fun factor. So that is why I recently bought a 2000 9-5 Aero Sedan. Its one of the most comfortable, refined, and yet sporty cars I have driven. In the long term I believe you will be happier with the comfort and build quality of the Aero over the Viggen.
