John,
As a one for one replacement over the other, the 2.1/2.3 liter cylinder heads will outflow and outperform the 2.0 liter castings as the valve sizes are the same between these two cylinder heads but the 2.1/2.3 liter version has the advantage of symetrical and larger intake ports.
For years we have been offering the 2.0 liter modified cylinder heads over the 2.1/2.3 as the 2.0 liter cylinder head castings have a firm advantage over the 2.1/2.3 liter on the short side radius of the intake valve pockets
The 2.0 liter cylinder head intake parameters see an average 7% increase of intake CFM can be realized when comparing a fully modified 2.0 liter cylinder head to the modified 2.1/2.3 liter version and this advantage shows at all intake valve lift points from 50K (25.63 for the 2.3 liter as compared to 26.78 for the 2.0 liter) to 650K (184.20 for the 2.3 liter as compared to 197.34 cfm for the 2.0 liter) in 50 (thou) increments for an average 7% advantage.
Exhaust port flow will be unchanged between these two cylinder heads.
The only negative aspect with respect to modifying these cylinder head castings is that the 2.0 liter castings take nearly twice the amount of time to rework than the 2.1/2.3 liter. End result, however, is worth the effort and We've been upgrading to the 2.0 liter castings in the case of a 2.3 liter application looking for maximum cylinder head performance.
Best of luck and regards,
GSK @ SDI
