An Azenis sized 215/45-16 has nearly the same diameter as a 205/50-16; the difference is negligible (see http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html).
If you're running a 7" rim or wider, you could run them. According to Falken's website, there is only a .2" difference in section width between their 205 (measured on a 6.5" rim) and their 215 (measured on a 7" rim). So what this says is that, basically, both tires have the same, actual section width.
In the autocross world, the Azenis is widely criticized as a "cheater" tire because they're as, or nearly as, wide as some makers' 225 offerings. Well, also because they stick to the ground so damn well. :-)
