Hi Chad, good point! A 9 lbs aluminum flywheel would have more than 50% of the effective inertia of an 18 lbs flywheel because of the drastic outboard weight differences. I would guess that going from a stock flywheel to one of our lightened ones wouldn't be as significant as going from a lightened one to an aluminum one! It's really just all about how much money you're willing to spend as it's not possible to have too light of flywheel with a heavy pressure plate. I prefer the lightest rotating mass possible (we even lighten Saab crankshafts) so the engine slows the car down when you get off the throttle. I had the frightening experience of driving a sprint car and the weirdest part was the first time I backed off it felt like the brakes had locked up at first! Those dam things don't have a flywheel, clutch or a front harmonic dampener and have real light crankshafts! We've just come out with an aluminum flywheel with a light weight multi-disk clutch for Classic 900's that will handle over 600 H.P. but it's $1,295! BTW our C-900 aluminum flywheels will be $30. less on our new web site that will be up soon. If you do decide on an aluminum flywheel just call the order in so you get the reduced price or better yet just buy Jordan's flywheel! Hope this helps! Take care, Dave
