I'm getting into this post 2 years late, but I figured I'd post something if someone ever searched this topic like me.

I'm an avid owner of Saabs and Porsches, I have 2 B202 9000 turbos and a 1988 944S (16V). First off, I think the nazi thing is a bit offensive, its like saying saying mitsubishi is evil for producing the zero. time has passed, and market economics renders those old stereotypes useless.

Ok, enough with that, on with the car stuff. If you think your Saab can outhandle most porsches, you are wrong. wrong. wrong. ive driven many many saabs, many more saabs than porsches. let me just say this again before continuing, you are wrong. first off, a marginal driver in my 944S could just wail on a good amateur driver in a 900 SPG. oh yea, this is in corners by the way. the 944 handles so much better that i think you could throw almost all the suspension upgrades that are street legal on a 900 SPG and still most likely would lose to a 16 valve 944 STOCK on an open track. the 900 just isnt a sports car, you could probably get close to the 944, but the 900 is STILL FRONT WHEEL DRIVE and biased heavily in that direction. if the 911 driver "wagged his tail" he was a sh*tty driver. with 911's, if one knows now to drive a 911 one will not drop the throttle and instead will modulate it to create variable understeer. the 900 just understeers too much period when power is applied.

Well, if you like the semi-pointless form of racing called drag racing, ok, i can cover that too. 951. should i say more? thats the 944 turbo. it weighs in and a nice 2750 pounds. it has 217 ponies stock with around 250 ft/lbs of torque. that even beats the beloved aero by a huge margain in power to weight. and seeing 300 horsepower through the rear wheels is not a difficult task in the 944 turbo. much easier to do than in a saab, and its actually more reliable at those insane power levels. and a decent 944 turbo can be had for cheaper than even a semi-ratty 9000 aero or even some nicer 900 SPG's. i guess if you really want to drag race you'll get an old cutlass and throw in a 550 big block with a gigantic supercharger on it though, it will dominate that. no turns!

I just had to post this to get out this pent-up frustration i've had. bottom line: porsches are pure sports cars (except for that SUV thing on the road now). saabs are not. saabs are far, far, like 10 times far, more practical than a porsche. porsches are 3x or more in price to repair (especially for labor, and you thought it was bad for saabs!). they also are not an all season car, although some maniacs with dollars drive them in the winter.

also: im not saying putting performance mods on your saab is pointless. if you really know what you're doing maybe you could build up a car racy enough to take on a porsche. hell, i converted my 9000S to a low pressure turbo car, and its fun as hell! but don't go 'round with this attitude that your saab just absolutely dominates porsche. It doesn't, and it was never designed to.

Ok, I'm DONE.
