Differing opinions are good

I think it is what is so useful about this BB. I am familiar with many folks who have found the use of a SMBC on a T-7 to be very useful and like the difference that it makes and others have had problems as we have found that some have had issue with the use of a normal install of a MBC and others love it. We know that the t-7 is a fickle creature when it comes to performance modifications and the SMBC is one that requires manual tuning which makes it even harder the get right. I have run a SMBC on a 9-5 base now for a while without any issue but I use a mild setting for a little better spool up time. I am not trying to find the "edge" as i do on the 9-3 using the MBC+A. So I think that the SMBC can yield some good results but each car may react to it slightly differently than the next. Could depend on current condition of the car, or other factors. If you ask any one who works for saab what they think about a MBC you're not going to get anyone to condone the use of such a thing, but ask them the same thing about after market BPV's or cone filters and they'll poo-poo those as well. I am sure that if I had asked saab what they thoght about the APC pod tweak i did on my old SPG they had told me I would blow up the turbo and ruin the car prematurely, but I did it and ran the car to almost 300K miles without ever replacing a trubo or drivetrain and anything expensive. Dumb luck? maybe.
So, as MatthewB has pointed out...a SMBC might answer your questions, it might not. Might be worth a try to figure out if it is worth it to you. Does a stage3 ecu cause piston rings to fry? Maybe...Does it cause a turbo to die prematurely? Maybe.
I applaude Tim for saying what he feels...that is what makes this BB useful.
