Sorry for the double post, I forgot to put a name in the first.
What a timely post. I was getting drop in a post regarding my experience with the SMBC as well, but I'll just tag onto this one. I've got a 99 viggen (T7) with an Abbott ECU, Abbott IC, and cone filter, and Abbott exhaust (the previous owner obviously had too much money). The thing runs like a scalded cat on when the boost is on, but I was hoping to smooth out the boost and try to relieve the dead spot (bog?) I get between shifts. Someone suggested an SMBC, it's simple and cheap as hell, so I tried it. I've been cranking the preload on the boost controller a little each day, but I've never gotten it cranked tight enough to get a CEL. What I ended up with was MORE boost (well into the red part of the boost guage) coming on sooner, in a ferocious explosion. I'm afraid that something else is going to explode, so I'm dialing it back. It's entertaining but not what I'm looking for. Maybe it's the Abbott ECU being over zealous. Has anyone else had this sort of experience?
I say try the SMBC as an easy way to possibly trick the stock ECU to give you more boost in 1st and second. I got the MBC off ebay for $10, took 5 minutes to install
