Well yes, but then the question would be what kind of donor car to take the relevant floorpan sections of. To better the Saab FWD set up, it'd better be d*mn good - Saab/Mustang hybrids, the Mustang in question being based on the platform of a live-axled '70s low-end sh*tbox, don't do it for me and are IMO a serious retrograde step. BMW? Maybe, but they only got really good after the inception of the 'Z-axle' rear suspension - E36 might be an option. The old trailing arm rear suspensions were dire in wet conditions. Porsche 928 (rear transaxle) might be another interesting option.

I think the complexity of coming up with a RWD set up that works -not only as a drag racer, but as s serious driver's car- must not be underestimated. It'll only come out good if you can put the engine low and way back in the engine bay for a nice 50/50 weight balance and low center of gravity, if you get the rear suspension layout spot on, and if you get it to work well with whatever is at the front (I am assuming one wnats to retain the standard Saab double wishbone front end - going to struts would be another retrograde step). MG Rover did the FWD-RWD conversion thing with the ZT260/75V8 and it was a MAJOR undertaking. Took them three years from the first announcement to production reality. Came out rather fine, though with a modest 155 bhp/tonne (the heavy Ford V8 hardware and associated stuff meant 200 extra weight on top of the not insubstantial 1,5xx kgs of the FWD V6 original) one is led to wonder why they bothered...
